Jesse Barker is a senior lecturer in Spanish and Latin American studies at the University of Aberdeen. His research specialization is contemporary Spanish film and literature, with interdisciplinary offshoots in visual culture production in other languages as well as modern adaptations of Buddhism. All these interests are connected by a common focus on western attempts to break out of the individualist paradigm, and the challenges and contradictions that ensue. He is currently developing a project on social-ecological conflict in Spain.
