Jessica Floyd

Jessica Floyd is an interdisciplinary scholar who analyses the performance of sexuality and the subversion of norms in bawdy and erotic cultural artefacts. She completed her doctoral degree (2017) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where her dissertation, ‘Jibbooms, barrels, and dead-eyes: Singing sex in sea chanteys’, investigated the ways in which erotic folksong captures notions of gender and sexuality, especially as they are attached to sailing men. She is currently an associate professor of English at the Community College Baltimore County and an adjunct professor in gender, women’s and sexuality studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
