Ji-yoon An
Ji-yoon An is a Korea Foundation visiting lecturer in Korean studies at the University of Hong Kong. Trained in film studies with a focused attention on Korea, An’s research focuses on the symbiotic relationship between modern Korean society and its visual culture. An received her Ph.D. in East Asian studies from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, where her doctorate dissertation examined family representations in Korean films. Prior to her current position at HKU, An was a visiting assistant professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and at the University of Tübingen, Germany. An will begin as assistant professor of Korean cinema and popular culture at the University of British Columbia, Canada, from 2024.
