Jill Fleuriet
Jill Fleuriet is a cultural and medical anthropologist and a professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio with expertise in the qualitative analysis of health and health care inequalities in the US-Mexico borderlands. Broadly, she considers health, health care and illness from political economic and feminist perspectives. She is particularly interested in the production of health and health care inequalities within the context of transnationalism, biomedical hegemony and identity. Her primary research areas of interest are reproductive health and health care among immigrant women from Mexico and Hispanic women living in the borderlands of South Texas; and applied projects on health disparities in San Antonio and the Texas-Mexico border.
