Jillian F. Beacon
Jillian Beacon earned a bachelors in music in integrated studies from the University of Calgary, where she studied piano performance and composition. She holds a masters diploma in piano pedagogy research and a masters of arts in music from the University of Ottawa. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in human kinetics at the University of Ottawa and conducts research on injury prevention for musicians at the Piano Pedagogy Research Laboratory. Her research explores the application of motion tracking technology to investigate piano ergonomics and the impact of somatic training methods on musicians’ movement and practice behaviour.
