Jo Mane

Jo Mane works as a senior lecturer with Unitec Institute of Technology based in Auckland, Aotearoa, New Zealand. She currently teaches with the Master of Applied Practice, teaching and supervising Masters students. The nature of the programme is trans-disciplinary involving post-graduate level students from a range of sectors; students are generally highly experienced practitioners in their area of work. Jo’s area of research interest is kaupapa Māori, Māori-led initiative and indigenous methodologies. As part of a community-led initiative, Jo was part of establishing tribal radio in her tribal region of Ngapuhi. Her Masters study documented a history of the radio station Tautoko FM and her doctoral thesis studied ‘The Impact of Māori Language Broadcasting on Māori Language Survival’.
