Joan Gross
Joan Gross (Ph.D., University of Texas, 1985) is professor of anthropology at Oregon State University where she helped start the Food in Culture and Social Justice programme. Prior to shifting her academic focus to food, she wrote Speaking in Other Voices: An Ethnography of Walloon Puppet Theaters (John Benjamins, 2001) and edited Teaching Oregon Native Languages (Oregon State University Press, 2007). Her current research focuses on food sovereignty activism in Oregon and Ecuador.
