Joan Ormrod
Joan Ormrod’s research is widely published in journals and edited collections and focuses on fantasy, science fiction, women/girlhood, audiences and comics. Her recent publications include Wonder Woman, the Female Body and Popular Culture (Bloomsbury Academic, 2020) and book chapters on pop music in girls’ comics and the fashionable body in 1960s girls’ comics. She has also edited collections such as Superheroes and Identities (Routledge, 2015), Time Travel in Popular Media (McFarland, 2015) and chapters in edited collections on Wonder Woman and Canadian comics. She edits Routledge’s The Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics (2010–present), published six times a year, and is on the organization committee of the Annual International Conference of Graphic Novels and Comics held in venues such as the British Library, the Sorbonne and the Universities of Dundee, Glasgow, Bournemouth, Cambridge and Manchester Metropolitan University.
