Joanna Staśkiewicz
Joanna Staśkiewicz is a postdoctoral scholar working on her project ‘Simulacrum of gender, desire and local myths in the New Burlesque: The comparison of the burlesque scenes in New Orleans, Berlin and Warsaw’. She studied social sciences at Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg in Germany and completed her Ph.D. at the Cultural Studies Department of the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany. She was research associate at Loyola University and visiting postdoctoral scholar at Tulane University, both in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her main research areas are gender, sexuality and queer studies, research of myths and discourses, post-structuralism, popular cultures and performance studies. She is author of the monograph Katholische Frauenbewegung in Polen? Zum Wandel der Geschlechterverhältnisse in der katholischen Kirche in Polen nach 1989 (transcript Verlag, 2018).
