John Chilver

John Chilver is an artist and writer based in London. His work treats image-making as a hazardous pleasure and an unstable site and tool of inquiry into the decoherence of agency and subjectivity. His writings have appeared in Afterall, Art Monthly, Art Papers, Distinktion/Scandinavian Journal of Social Theory, Frieze, Spike Art, Starship and elsewhere; and in anthologies such as The Happy Fainting of Painting (König, 2014) and Painting with Architecture in Mind (Wunderkammer Press, 2012). His recent solo exhibitions have included John Chilver, Xero Kline and Coma, London, 2018; The Near Abroads, Atlas House, Ipswich, 2019; The Scene of Instruction, Coleman Projects, London, 2021. He teaches at Goldsmiths, University of London.
