Jon Arrizabalaga

Dr Jon Arrizabalaga is a research professor in the History of Medicine and Science at the Milà i Fontanals Institution for Research in Humanities, Barcelona (Spanish National Research Council, CSIC). He is currently working on war, medicine and humanitarianism in Europe from 1850 to 1950 from a transnational and interdisciplinary perspective, and with particular attention to Spain. He has edited the monographic dossiers ‘War, empire, science, progress. Debate and practice within the International Red Cross movement from 1863 to the interwar period’ (Asclepio, 2014); ‘Humanitarismo, Guerra e innovación tecnológica: el caso de la Cruz Roja Española’ (Manguinhos, 2016) and, together with Àlvar Martínez-Vidal, ‘Entre los campos y los hospitales: ayuda médica humanitaria a los refugiados republicanos españoles en Francia (1939-1950)’ (Dynamis, 2020).
