Jordi Cornellà-Detrell

Jordi Cornellà-Detrell is a senior lecturer in Hispanic studies at the University of Glasgow. His research interests focus mostly on the Spanish post-war publishing industry, censorship and translation during Franco’s regime, twentieth-century Catalan and Spanish literature and multilingual literature. He has published the monographs Literature as a Response to Cultural and Political Repression in Franco’s Catalonia (Tamesis, 2011) and El plurilingüisme en la literatura catalana (Vitel·la, 2014, with Albert Rossich). He has also co-edited the volume Translation and Global Spaces of Power (Multilingual Matters, 2018). His current project sets out to examine the effects of censorship on translation during and after Franco’s regime in order to shed light on the dictatorship’s cultural policies and post-war publishing and translation practices.
