Joseph C. Williams
Joseph C. Williams is an assistant professor of architecture at the University of Maryland, College Park, and holds a Ph.D. in the history of art and architecture from Duke University. His research focuses on the knowledge, practice, and organization of architectural workshops, particularly in the intercultural milieu of the Norman Kingdom of Sicily and its Mediterranean surroundings. His teaching covers premodern architecture, with an emphasis on the Roman, medieval, and Islamic periods, as well as the methods of building archaeology and digital history. Williams completed a Phyllis W. G. Gordan/Lily Auchincloss/Samuel H. Kress Foundation Rome Prize between 2016 and 2018.
