Joseph N. Nyanoti

Dr Joseph Nyamwange Nyanoti is an assistant professor of journalism and media studies at the United States International University-Africa (USIU-A) in Nairobi. He holds a Ph.D. in media and cultural studies from the University of Nairobi. He also holds a bachelor of arts in literature and linguistics, master of arts in communication studies and a post-graduate diploma in mass communication from the University of Nairobi. He worked as a journalist in Kenya’s leading newspapers for seventeen years before moving into academics. His research interest areas include: popular culture, critical media studies and gender and representation in media texts. Dr Nyanoti is a member of ICA and IAMCR. He has published articles in the Journal of Communication and Media Research, International Journal of Comic Art and Ada: A Journal of Gender, New Media, and Technology. He has also co-authored a book chapter in Misogyny Across Global Media (Lexington Books, 2021).
