Juan Antonio Del Monte
Juan Antonio Del Monte is professor in the Department of Cultural Studies at El Colegio de la Frontera Norte, Mexico, and a member of the National System of Researchers of the National Council of Science and Technology in Mexico. His research interests revolve around issues of precariousness and inequalities, cities and urban identities, mobility, and border cultures. He is author of Entre Ruedas y Asfalto: Identidades y Movilidades de Bikers y Lowriders en Tijuana (2015) and the recent article: ‘Devenir habitante de calle en una ciudad fronteriza del norte de México: deportación, consumo de drogas y violencias’ (2019). He also produced the documentary Debajo del Cuero (2013), and co-directed, with Rodrigo Ruiz Patterson, Bad Hombres (2019), a documentary about deportees that dwell in the streets of Tijuana. Currently, he coordinates the Migration Policy Observatory at El Colegio de la Frontera Norte:
