Juana Suárez

Juana Suárez is the director of the Moving Image Archiving and Preservation Program at New York University (NYU MIAP), a scholar of Latin American cinema and a media-preservation specialist. She is the author of Critical Essays on Colombian Cinema: Cinembargo Colombia (Spanish-language edition, Universidad del Valle, 2009; English-language edition, trans. Laura A. Chesak, Palgrave McMillan, 2012) and Sitios de contienda: Producción cultural y el discurso de la violencia (Iberoamericana Vervuert, 2010); the co-editor of Humor in Latin American Cinema (Palgrave Macmillan, 2015); and the Spanish-language translator of Latin American Cinema: A Comparative History, by Paul A. Schroeder-Rodríguez (University of California Press, 2020). She is currently writing a book about Latin American audiovisual archives.
