Judith May Fathallah

Dr Judith May Fathallah is a research and outreach associate at Lancaster University and a research fellow at Coventry University in the United Kingdom. She is the author of Fanfiction and the Author: How Fanfic Changes Popular Cultural Texts (Amsterdam University Press, 2017), Emo: How Fans Studied a Subculture (University of Iowa Press, 2020) and Killer Fandom: Fan Studies and the Celebrity Serial Killer (mediastudies.press, 2023). Her interests include fanfiction, music, gender, subcultures and true crime fandoms. She is also a developer of the Open Book Collective (www.openbookcollective.org), a UK charity enabling small and medium academic publishers to publish Open Access books via a consortial funding model, thus moving away from book-processing charges.
