Julia Hartmann

Julia Hartmann (Mag. BA) is an art historian, independent curator and Ph.D. student at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, with a research focus on an all-female exhibition history and feminist art in China. Previously, she was working as assistant curator at the Secession and the Belvedere 21 in Vienna. She is the co-founder and board member of SALOON Wien, an international network for women in the arts and currently works as an associate curator for the VIENNA ART WEEK. She independently curates exhibitions that oscillate between feminism, digitalization and the freedom of movement with exhibition projects such as My Pen Won’t Break But Borders Will (Apexart, New York City); Search for... The More You Search the Less You Find (VBKÖ, Vienna) and Nothing Less! 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage (Austrian Cultural Forum, London), amongst others.
