Julie Digby

An experienced music educator, having worked in both education and community settings, Julie has facilitated musical engagement, learning and development cross all age phases, from early childhood through primary and secondary, as well as supporting adults working with children in the early years. Collaborative arts form a key aspect of her holistic, contextual, multimodal practice, with an emphasis on creative exploration. Doctoral research focused on some reception class teachers’ perceptions of their beliefs of low self-efficacy and confidence to facilitate the musical learning and development of the children in their care. Passionate about music education, grounded in the view that all children have an entitlement to develop their innate musicality, Julie’s current role is one of advocacy. Namely, that all children should be able to access more inclusive musical opportunities, across a broader and more diverse range of genres and media.
