Julie Valentine Dind

Julie Dind is a doctoral candidate in theatre arts and performance studies at Brown University, a butoh dancer and a multidisciplinary artist. Her doctoral dissertation, provisionally titled ‘A(u/r)tistic wor(l)dings’, autistically explores autistic modes of performance. Since 2013, she collaborates with multimedia artist Rolf Gerstlauer on a research-creation project titled ‘Drawing NN inside butoh’. Prior to attending Brown University, she earned a BA in psychology from Toulouse University (France), an MA in international culture and communication studies from Waseda University (Japan) and an advanced certificate in disability studies from the City University of New York. In 2016–17, she attended Pratt Institute as a Fulbright scholarship recipient.
