Jungtaek Lee

Jungtaek Lee received his Ph.D. on the topic of the colonial modernity of Korean dress and fashion in the Department of the History of Art and Archaeology at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, in 2015 after completing an MA in material and visual culture, Department of Anthropology, University College London and a BA in clothing and textiles at Inha University. He has worked as an assistant curator and researcher, funded by the Korea Foundation, for Korean Collections at the British Museum (2009–15), and lectured on the topics of Korean dress, textiles and contemporary fashion in London since 2009 (SOAS, V&A, Sotheby’s, Korean Cultural Centre, and others) and on fashion studies in Seoul (Inha and Sungkyunkwan Universities in 2016). His research interests lie in the field of the culture and history of Korean dress and contemporary fashion practices in Korea, East Asia and the United Kingdom, and his publications include ‘Korean artefacts donated to the British Museum by Ogita Etsuzo in 1910’, Orientations (41:8, 2010).
