Jurģis Šķilters

Professor Jurģis Šķilters is the director of the Lab for Perceptual and Cognitive Systems at the Faculty of Computing, University of Latvia. After graduating from the University of Mainz he has been conducting research and lecturing in the United States and Europe, also serving as the director or co-director of several EU and transatlantic research projects. His main research area is spatial and visual perception and cognition, with an additional interest in the natural language analysis, formal models of spatial relations, cross-modal perception and emotion. He is the founder of the first Cognitive Science research unit in Baltic countries.
