Kamil Khan Mumtaz
Kamil Khan Mumtaz studied at Architectural Association School of Architecture (1957–63). In London he worked with Quine and Newberry (1960–61) and Architects’ Co-Partnership (1963–64). He taught at KNUST, Kumasi, in Ghana (1963–66) and was Head of Department of Architecture at National College of Arts, Lahore, from 1966 to 1977. Mumtaz was a member of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture steering committee (1981–84). He established the partnership, BKM, in 1975, and has been in independent practice since 1984. He is the author of Architecture in Pakistan (Concept Media, 1985) and Modernity and Tradition (Oxford University Press, 1999). The Government of Pakistan awarded him Tamgha-i-Imtiaz in 1993 and Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2019.
