Kamran Afary

Kamran Afary is assistant professor of communication studies at Cal State LA and holds a Ph.D. in performance studies and is a Registered Drama Therapist. He is the author of Performance and Activism: Grassroots Discourse after the Los Angeles Rebellion of 1992 (Lexington Books, 2009), a co-editor of Communication Research on Expressive Arts and Narrative as Forms of Healing: More Than Words (Lexington Books, 2020) and co-author of a chapter on Narradrama in Current Approaches in Drama Therapy (Charles C Thomas Publisher, 2021). He teaches APA continuing education courses to mental health professionals on intersectional identities and trauma-informed work at the Drama Therapy Institute of Los Angeles.
