Kaori Yanata

Kaori Yanata is a visiting fellow in the Center for Tourism Research at Wakayama University, Japan. She is also a visiting researcher in the Graduate School of Urban Social and Cultural Studies at Yokohama City University, Japan. She specializes in the fields of pilgrimage, religious tourism and spirituality. She has researched the relationship between religious sites and tourism from multiple perspectives, including commercialization, mobility, hospitality and guests’ motivation and experience, using Koyasan, an esoteric Buddhist site in Japan, as a research field.
