Karen E. Till

Karen E. Till is professor of cultural geography at Maynooth University in Ireland. She directs the Space & Place Research Collaborative, is founding co-convener of the Mapping Spectral Traces international network, and co-director of the MA in Spatial Justice. Till has published numerous articles, chapters and books, including The New Berlin: Memory, Politics, Place (UMN Press, 2005), and has curated numerous exhibitions in public institutions. Her book in progress, Wounded Cities, highlights the significance of place-based memory work and ethical forms of care by artists and activists through geo-ethnographic research in multiple cities. Karen is also co-editor of a forthcoming Cork University Press book series – Earth Writings (with Nessa Cronin and Gerry Kearns) – that will include short contributions by scholars, artists and activists addressing our current earth crises through a focus on ‘staying with the trouble’ in specific environments, including in cities and suburbs.
