Karl Toepfer
Karl Toepfer is a professor emeritus in the Department of Television, Radio, Film and Theater at San Jose State University. He is the author of numerous articles on theatre, drama, dance and film in journals such as TDR, Journal of the History of Sexuality and Performing Arts Journal. His books include Empire of Ecstasy: Movement and Nudity in German Body Culture 1910–1935 (1997). He is completing a large, comprehensive history of pantomime.
