Kateryna Kasianenko

Kateryna Kasianenko is a second-year master’s student at the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies at the University of Tokyo, Japan. Originally from Ukraine, she got her BA and MA in Japanese and English language, literature and translation at Kyiv University. She has worked as a fixer at a Ukrainian–Japanese TV production company, helping cover such events as mass demonstrations and war in Ukraine, the refugee crisis in Europe and many others. In 2016 she started her research at GSII, the University of Tokyo, examining cosmopolitanism of Japanese media. She has also engaged in an international empirical study on news consumption on social media as a research assistant.
