Kathryn McPherson

Kathryn M. McPherson, BA (Hons), Ph.D., is Emeritus Professor of Rehabilitation having recently stepped down as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and then Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research at Auckland University of Technology, Aotearoa New Zealand. Throughout 2020–21 she led (with support of Professor Peterson and faculty across the university) a collaborative project striving to lift the quality of learning and teaching, evaluate that quality more appropriately and promote the connection between learning and teaching and research. Stepping down from her substantive roles mid-2022, Kath accepted a role as professor emeritus. She also established a consultancy offering support to academics in career development and to strengthen links between the academic world and next and end users. Kath serves on boards and research funding panels in NZ and internationally. In line with a strong belief in the potential power of ‘lifelong learning’, Kath recently completed an Intensive Skills Course in mediation and plans to continue this learning/training to strengthen her professional practice.
