Kelsey E. Scholes
Kelsey E. Scholes is a postgraduate student in the Department of Media, Communication, Creative Arts, Languages and Literature (MCCALL), specializing in Chinese studies at Macquarie University, Australia. She is currently awaiting award for the Master of Research, Macquarie University. She received her Bachelor of International Studies from Macquarie University and was a part of the Macquarie University Research Internship (MURI). She has a particular interest in how fashion assists in the construction and embodiment of identity, and in the complex interplay between masculinity, femininity and stylistic expression. Her current research project is an investigation into the impact of the xiao xianrou (小鲜肉) (‘little fresh meat’) subculture on hegemonic representations of contemporary Chinese masculinity.
