Kim Coleman

Kim Coleman’s Ph.D. considered co-authored experimental moving image by women, addressing the relationships that have generated co-authored moving image, the drive to work in this way, and what is enabled. The study focused on short-term coauthoring relationships, and works in which the authors portray themselves. Case studies include Wendy Clarke’s work with her mother Shirley Clarke, a film made by Marie Menken and Andy Warhol, and videos by Max Almy and Barbara Hammer, Cathy Acker and Alan Sondheim, and Delphine Seyrig and Carole Carole Roussopoulos. Kim Coleman is also an artist whose solo and co-authored works have been staged nationally and internationally.
