Dr Kimi Kärki is a Research Fellow at the Department of Cultural History, University of Turku, Finland. He is a founding member of the International Institute for Popular Culture (IIPC), and the current secretary of the European Popular Culture Association (EPCA). He has published mostly on stadium rock stardom and stage designing, and his current research project analyses the relation of transhumanism and popular culture. He is also a practicing popular musician with more than 30 releases. He spent the first half of 2017 as a Fulbright Visiting Researcher at the CWRU Center for Popular Music Studies, Cleveland, USA.
