Kostas Karavidas

Kostas Karavidas is laboratory teaching staff at the Department of Philology, University of Ioannina, Greece. He graduated with a BA in classics (2005) and a Ph.D. in modern Greek literature (2014) from the University of Athens. The topic of his doctoral thesis was the Anti magazine’s (1972, 1974–2008) contribution to the re-reading of the literary past and to the prominence of modern Greek studies. His work focuses on Greek literary and cultural history, both of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as well as on history of ideas, intellectual history, cultural studies, literary criticism and periodical studies, with a special interest in post-war and post-junta period. He has worked as a researcher at the National Library of Greece and as a secondary school teacher. He was recently the editor of Nea Estia’s Special Issue, titled Contemporary Greek Prose and History. His current book project explores the history of ‘Etaireia Spoudon Neoellinikou Politismou kai Genikis Paideias – Idrytis: Scholi Moraiti’ (Society for Studies of Modern Greek Culture and General Education – Founder: Moraitis School).
