Kristin Linklater

Kristin Linklater is an internationally recognized name in the field of voice training, having published two industry-leading textbooks, Freeing the Natural Voice ([1976] 2006) and Freeing Shakespeare’s Voice ([1992] 2010). Originally trained at LAMDA, Kristin has worked with the Festival Theatre Stratford (Canada), the Tyrone Guthrie Theatre (Minneapolis, US), the Royal Shakespeare Company (Stratford-Upon-Avon, UK), Joseph Chaikin’s Open Theatre (New York, US), Peter Brook’s Centre de Recherche (Paris, France) and Shakespeare & Company (Lenox MA, US), among many other international theatre organizations and groups. She has taught at New York University’s Graduate Theatre programme and Emerson College, Boston, and is Professor Emerita of Theatre Arts at Columbia University having taught there for seventeen years. Kristin has trained over 150 teachers worldwide and assisted many high-profile clients in their vocal performance, among them Alan Rickman, Donald Sutherland, Sigourney Weaver, Bill Murray, Patrick Stewart and Kim Cattrall.
