Lam Nin-tung

Lam Nin-tung (1944–90) is a Hong Kong film scholar and filmmaker. He worked at the Cathay Motion Picture Company (1968–71) and the Yangtze Film (HK) Ltd. (1971–72) before earning his doctoral degree in art history at the University of Bologna (1972–77). He then taught at the Hong Kong Baptist College (now Hong Kong Baptist University), established the Hong Kong Chinese Film Association and organized seminars at the Hong Kong International Film Festival. He wrote articles for the Zhongguo xuesheng zhoubao/Zunggwok hokssang zaubou (Chinese Students Weekly), Da texie/Daai dakse (Close-up) and Dianying shuangzhoukan/Dinjing soengzauhon (Film Biweekly). A collection of his critical essays was published in his book Jing you (Mirroring-Journeying) in 1985. Unfortunately, his promising career was cut short by liver cancer in 1990.
