Laura A. Jones
Laura Jones lectures in fashion design, creative pattern cutting and fashion theory and history, having worked in and around the fashion industry for more than fifteen years. Laura began her career as a costumier for Angels Costume House in London, before becoming a freelance costume maker, stylist and researcher for many feature films such as Batman Begins and Tomb Raider 2 and numerous TV productions. In 2006 she graduated with a degree in menswear fashion design, and then worked as a menswear designer, creative pattern cutter, garment technologist and consultant for many labels, including Nicole Farhi and Vivienne Westwood. Laura has also set up and run her own fashion label, showing her collections at both London and Paris fashion weeks. In 2015 Laura graduated with a Masters in the history and culture of fashion from the London College of Fashion (UAL), where she had focused her study on nineteenth century Jewish tailoring. Since graduating Laura has played a leading role in producing a major exhibition focusing on the development of men’s high-street fashion, Moses, Mods and Mr. Fish, held at the Jewish Museum in London. Throughout her career, Laura has maintained a specific focus on menswear and continues to expand her knowledge in this area in both practical and academic fields.
