Laura Burns

Laura Burns is an artist and researcher working at the intersection of dance, performance, poetry, embodied environmental justice and healing practices. Her practice explores how more-than-human existents such as stones and rivers, guide and express ethics and pedagogies. She is concerned with orality and the emergence of language and voice at the encounter with the more-than-human. She has made work for gardens, galleries, theatres and rivers. She is a systemic constellations practitioner exploring how an earth-centred approach to this work intersects with transformative justice and abolitionist futures. She holds a Ph.D. in art from Goldsmiths University, where her research focussed on the legacy of the European witch-hunts and the material–spiritual–political possibility of encounter between land and body.
