Les Switzer

Les Switzer is a Professor Emeritus in Communication and History at the University of Houston. His teaching and research interests are in journalism and media studies, development studies, cultural studies, southern African studies and religious studies. Switzer also completed a master’s degree in divinity and is a qualified chaplain. His research in recent years has been concerned with politics and religion in the U.S., and he is currently examining the religious cultural landscape in America and its impact on American Zulu missionaries in South Africa during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Publications include eight books and monographs, and about 30 book chapters, articles and essays in scholarly journals.
