Leslee Katrina Michelsen
Leslee Katrina Michelsen is the Curator of Collections and Exhibitions at the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design in Honolulu, Hawai’i. Previously, Michelsen was the Head Curator of the Museum of Islamic Art (Qatar) from 2011–15, and Consulting Curator for UNESCO Afghanistan from 2015–16. She earned a Ph.D. in Islamic art history from the University of Pennsylvania (2011) and writes on topics ranging from medieval architecture to multi-sensory learning. Upcoming projects include co-curated exhibitions with contemporary artists Slavs & Tatars, Diana Al-Hadid, Lazo Studios, Kamran Samimi, and Maimouna Guerresi, as well as a pan-Pacific exhibition on scent.
