Leung Wing-Fai
Leung Wing-Fai completed a doctoral thesis, “Image, Performance and Identity: An Exploration of the Practices and Discourse of Multi-media Stardom in Hong Kong,” at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. She has co-edited with Leon Hunt, East Asian Cinemas: Exploring Transnational Connections on Film (2008), and has contributed to Media Studies Handbook (2010), and the forthcoming Directory of World Cinema: China. Her articles include “From Wah Dee to CEO: Andy Lau and Performing the Authentic Hong Kong Star,” Film International, 2009, Issue 40, Vol.7 No.4. She is currently working on several articles to appear in the Canadian Journal of Film Studies and collections such as Women and Contemporary World Cinema, on subjects as diverse as the Asian female avenger, Maggie Cheung, theme songs in Hong Kong cinema, and sexploitation stars.
