Lianne McTavish

Lianne McTavish is a professor in the Department of Art and Design at the University of Alberta, where she offers courses in early modern visual culture, the history of the body, and critical museum theory. In addition to numerous articles and book chapters, she has published three monographs, including Defining the Modern Museum (2013). She is currently completing a manuscript analysing the rural and small-town museums in Alberta (albertamuseumsproject.com). An Annual Killam Professor (2016–17), she has received four major research grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and regularly curates exhibitions of contemporary art.
