Lidia Peralta García
Lidia Peralta is an associate professor at the Faculty of Communication and Documentation, University of Granada (UGR), where she teaches audio-visual communication. She was previously affiliated with the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the University of Castille-La Mancha (UCLM). Her doctoral thesis dealt with the representation of sub-Saharan migrations through Spanish cinema (2000–11). Her main publications belong to the field of semiotics of cinema, especially in migration and gender studies. She has published the following books: Los nuevos héroes del siglo XXI: Las migraciones subsaharianas vistas por el cine en España y África (‘The new heroes of the 21st century: The subsaharan migrations as seen by Spanish and African Cinema’) (Editorial UOC, 2016) and Migrando por el cine marroquí (‘Moroccan migration cinema’) (Editorial Fragua, 2017). Her articles include ‘Risky and unauthorized migrations: A view from Moroccan cinema (1958–2015): Main narrative approaches and features’ (2018) and ‘Migrations in Moroccan cinema (1958–2015): Main thematic lines and evolution’ (2020). She is a documentary filmmaker.
