Lihua Chen
Lihua Chen is a Ph.D. candidate in communication of the joint research postgraduate programme of Beijing Normal University–Hong Kong Baptist University United International College and Hong Kong Baptist University. His primary research interests include fandom/anti-fandom, popular culture and the culture industry, tourism and discourse analysis, from both sociocultural and critical perspectives. He is interested in looking at how people make sense of the media texts, content and cultures in relation to their own social background. His Ph.D. dissertation explores anti-fans’ reception of and reaction to Chinese pop stars from a Bourdieuian perspective. He is currently working on a monograph project for Routledge that investigates people’s perception and meaning construction of touristic authenticity in Southern China.
