Liina-Ly Roos

Liina-Ly Roos is an assistant professor of Scandinavian studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She specializes in Nordic and Baltic cinema, television, literary and cultural studies, with a specific focus on migration, race and ethnicity, memory, melodrama and public broadcasting. Publications include ‘Post-Soviet trauma in the Nordic imagination: Occupation and sex trafficking in Purge and Lilya 4-ever’, Baltic Screen Media Review (2014) and ‘War memory, compassion and the Finnish child: Klaus Härö’s Mother of Mine’, in Nordic War Stories: World War II as Fiction, Film and History (ed.
