Linda M. Rang

Linda M. Rang grew up in and currently resides in Orange County, California. She received her BA degree in English from California State University, Fullerton. After working in the business setting for a few years, she returned to CSUF to acquire her multiple teaching credentials. She has just completed twenty-three years of teaching in the primary grades at Dysinger Elementary School, in Buena Park, California. She has always been interested in teaching art to young children. She has seen how children gravitate to art and it is something they all can be successful in doing. Among other things, it aids in their creativity, cognitive development and engagement. Raising her disabled son, Ryan, taught her that everybody can reach their dreams. Suffering from a severe neuromuscular disease, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, he achieved so much in his 25 years of life. Among his accomplishments was that of an artist. Painting more than 60 canvases of places he travelled and cultural experiences, he sold his paintings to donate to a muscular dystrophy charity. He did this all with hands too weak to feed himself and while being confined to a wheelchair. Ryan inspired her to return to school to obtain a master’s degree in art education at Azusa Pacific University. Sadly, he succumbed to his disease in January 2023. She wants to continue her son’s legacy and dedicate her life to teaching others about the joy of art in Ryan’s name.
