Lisa Erdman

Lisa Erdman (United States) is an artist, educator and researcher. Through satire, performance and corporate parody, Lisa explores the politics of medicine, advertising and cultural identity. She examines the mechanisms that shape personal identity and one’s relationship to medical authority. Her recent work involves collaborating with healthcare providers and educators to develop arts-based approaches to medical education. To this end, Lisa serves on the Advisory Board for the Arts and Humanities in Medicine Program at the University of Maine. Lisa has taught a range of university-level courses in art, design and visual culture. She has also served as an instructional designer for medical education, and as a graphic designer of pharmaceutical advertising (Harte-Hanks, Inc.) and digital health products (Ciegus, Oy). Lisa’s work has been presented internationally in art exhibitions, health humanities conferences and scholarly journals within the United States, Sweden, Canada, United Kingdom, Finland, Mexico, Russia, Hungary and Germany.
