Lisa J. Hackett
Dr Lisa J. Hackett is a lecturer of sociology and criminology at the University of New England (Australia). Her research examines aviation, fashion, clothing and uniform in popular culture through a sociological and historical lens to expose the ways popular culture objects define identity and social roles. Her Ph.D. examined the ways that Australian women utilize 1950s style to fashion their identities. She is the co-founder (along with Dr Jo Coghlan and Huw Nolan) of PopCRN, the Popular Culture Research Network, which brings together scholars and researchers who share a fascination in the academic inquiry into all manners of mass phenomena. Her current research includes the study of the use of female Second World War pilot’s uniforms in propaganda, the history of air pageants and the British Royal Family in popular culture. She is on the editorial board of America’s Popular Culture Review (Wiley).
