Lorena Cuya Gavilano

Dr Cuya Gavilano is an associate professor of Spanish at Arizona State University. She is the author of Fictions of Migration: Narratives of Displacement in Peru and Bolivia (The Ohio State University Press, 2021). Her areas of specialization are contemporary Latin American film, visual arts and literature. Her research, which has appeared in various peer-reviewed journals, explores different decolonial, epistemic, aesthetic and emotional experiences of migratory phenomena. She is currently researching the Chinese Diaspora in the Andes and Andean cultural productions about migration during the Post-Cold War era.
