Louis Shankar

Louis Shankar (they/them) is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of History of Art, University College London. Their thesis, co-supervised by Bob Mills and Mignon Nixon, presents a new analysis of the late art of David Wojnarowicz, focusing on psychoanalytic approaches to trauma, mourning and death. Their broader research interests include artistic responses to HIV/AIDS in America and the United Kingdom, contemporary cultural discourse surrounding the AIDS epidemic and queer methodologies of writing art history and theory.
