Lucas Marie

Dr Lucas Marie is an anthropologist, graduating with a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from Curtin University in 2019. His research focuses on hip hop dance cultures and uses them as a vehicle to investigate larger issues on body politics, social action, identity and exchange. He is also a practising breaker, representing under the name ‘Ippy’, and has competed, performed and taught breaking for the past 25 years. He is currently working for the Center for Defence Leadership and Ethics where he holds the position as head of cross-cultural education at the Australian Defence College in Canberra. He is also an active member of the Australian Anthropological Society.
